Agilis Engineering • January 2017 - Present
Agilis engineers work as an extension of our customers' in-house teams delivering a complete portfolio of engineering services-from mechanical and aerodynamic design to instrumentation, assembly and test.
Lightsail Energy • June 2013 - December 2016
I designed and created test stands for compressed air energy storage components, including gearboxes, water pumps and compressors. Using CAD tools and technical drawings, I created manufacturing tooling and components for large composite pressure vessels. I also identified instrumentation needs, selected sensors, created data acquisition systems, developed user interfaces, analyzed data and documented inspection results.
Acellent Technologies • November 2011 - June 2013
Led development of new ultrasonic sensing technologies for use in monitoring the health and remaining life of composite and metallic structures. I also managed commercial and government contracts related to solving unique sensing and monitoring problems, developed data acquisition system interfaces and new sensing algorithms, and designed hardware electronics enclosures.
PurePower Technologies (contractor due to hiring freeze) • May 2011 - November 2011
Developed new performance and durability test stands for prototype diesel fuel injectors. I also designed sensors, created LabVIEW applications to control test stands, collected data from sensors, interfaced with ECUs and provided data to operators.
University of South Carolina • May 2005 - May 2011
Designed and performed tests on composites and metals, including cryogenic fatigue tests. Conducted vibration test, shock tests, and nondestructive and destructive property measurements. Gained extensive knowledge and experience with sensors and hardware such as strain gages and ultrasonic transducers, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems.
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering • May 2011
• Thesis: “Composite Structural Health Monitoring using Piezoelectric Wafer Active Sensors”
• Head Teaching Assistant for the Microcontrollers in Mechanical Engineering class, supervised 5 other Teaching Assistants and gave weekly lectures.
• Received NSF GK-12 Program 1 year grant. Taught an 8th grade science class one day per week. Designed activities and experiments, built leadership and communication skills
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering • May 2009
• President of student ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) chapter
• Received highest single award for the 2009 Mechanical Engineering graduating class
• Valedictorian Scholarship recipient and Dean’s List
• Patents cover method of monitoring the structural health of bearings and rotating parts
• Publications focus on topics including: Composite material properties, nondestructive evaluation and monitoring of composite and metal structures (aircraft, bridges, spacecraft)
